The first type of cloth produced in Lancashire was 'Blackburn Grey' and the changes in a county given over almost entirely to cotton manufacture, coal mining, chemicals and engineering have been enormous. Profound changes have also taken place in the great cities of Manchester and Liverpool, now lost to Lancashire.
