Roy Broadbent Fuller - Born: 11th February 1912, Lancashire - Died: 27th September 1991 (79) - English. This is an unusual and magnificent story of adventure in which young Robert Brown went out to join his father, an anthropologist, roughly a thousand miles from Mombassa. Before he had left the ship which had brought him from England, Robert had encountered two sinister men, one thin and dark, the other round and elephantine, each describing the other as the most dangerous man in Africa. Robert was kidnapped at Mombassa, was rescued and continued the journey to Makala, where his father awaited him, but only there did his adventures really begin.
The two mysterious men are tremendous characters, and prove fantastically dangerous opponents. the whole action, in which Robert and his father are vitally involved, has an urgent feeling of deadly intention and actual peril. Kenya is the background of the fast, thrilling story, and the description of scene and life are brilliantly sharp and clear. It is a book for the eager reader, even boys and girls as young as eleven or twelve, but it can be read with equal satisfaction by young and adult.
