| Stapled booklet in Very Good condition. No nicks, tears or creases. Privately published. 16 pages, illustrated with black and white photos and old adverts. 18cm x 24.8cm. Weight: 75gms. Over the past few years I have often heard my friend Fred Clark refer to the old 'Hampton' Band. Fred is now aged 90 and was Bandmaster of the Band around 1911. Whilst he has provided the basis of my research many other local people have been most helpful in providing information and photographs and without their help this booklet could not have been compiled. 'Hampton Brass Band was formed in 1860, perhaps before, and as such must have been one of the oldest in this part of the country. It was disbanded in the mid 1920s but it has not been possible to establish a date. Unfortunately none of the original Band records have come to light (e.g Minutes Books) but if anyone has any idea of their existence I would be most grateful for information or the correction of errors. I am indebted to Dave Robertson for his expertise in printing and reproducing the old photographs. Perhaps one day the sound of a new Hampton Band will echo round our ancient Market Square. Trevor G. Picken.
