Introduction:

A full decade elapsed before this sequel to 'Logan's Run' was written and published. This same time span is echoed in the story itself - as Logan and Jess return to Earth ten years after their run to find the Thinker shut down and the Sandman system no longer operational.
As an author, I ask myself: What kind of society would exist after the 'death' of the Thinker - and how would Logan and Jess cope with a new wilderness environment?
'Logan's World' is my answer. In many ways, it seems to be superior to 'Logan's Run'. There is deeper characterization here, and the twists and turns of the plot keep readers guessing every step of the way.
Each of the characters in Logan's World' came to life for me while I wrote, as Logan's quest for vengeance took on a special dimension and meaning.
If you enjoyed 'Logan's Run', I guarantee you'll be equally thrilled by his new adventures beginning here in these pages.
The saga of Logan and Jess has achieved classic status over the years since I wrote the original novels. I believe this is because their message is timeless and universal: If basic elements are wrong in a society, if evil exists, then it must be faced and destroyed.
Logan rebels against injustice. He doesn't back down, He fights for what he knows is right at the risk of his life.
We don't have too many real heroes around these days, and maybe that helps explain Logan's enduring popularity.
He's a winner - and, as he wins, his world wins with him. William F. Nolan.
